WINNIPEG GOLDEN WHEAT FIELDS WEDDING
I've wanted to photograph a bride, or anyone for that matter, in a golden wheat field for as long as I can remember. Maybe it's my Manitoba roots calling me, or the way the sun melts like buttery caramel over the long tall blades of wheat, it's my opinion of the perfect backdrop for any photo session.
CRESCENT HEIGHTS SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT IN YYC
Planning an engagement proposal is not an easy task, but Mark really knocked this one out of the park. Everything was executed perfectly, from the sneaky ring swap to the "accidental discovery" of the view where he proposed, overlooking downtown Calgary, Teresa had no idea it was all happening until Mark got down on one knee. Hands down, the most emotionally charged session I've ever had the pleasure of photographing. Make sure you click through to the end of the slide show to see his proposal and her reaction!
SUNFLOWER MAZE MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION
Well, this is what you get when you combine smoke from the B.C fires, a sunflower maze and these two babes. I had the pleasure of photographing these two once again this week and this time was even more special because we were able to venture out to the sunflower farm in Bowden to capture these beautiful pictures. BANFF MOUNTAINS SIDE ENGAGEMENT
When Adam and Sarah approached me to photograph their engagement, and said they really wanted a mountain backdrop for their photos, I was so stoked because I’ve been dying to photograph the rockies in the fall. We had our challenges in planning this session, with cool weather and two locations changes due to a bear attack in Kananaskis and a cougar advisory at Wedge Pond, Banff naturally seemed like the appropirate solution. I love the strong contract in tones between the crisp, cool, icy mountains peaks and the warm golden changing of the fall leaves.
LIFESTYLE FAMILY PHOTOS
When your best friends asks you to photograph their family, and you know their little kiddos so well, it really makes getting the job done so much easier. Connecting with kids before your session is essential to making them feel comfortable so they can open up in front of the camera. As a client, booking the same photographer year after year presents a clear advantage in helping your kids achieve this level of comfort and trust with your photographer. In this case, all my friends had to do was tell their kids that “aunty Max” was going to take their photos and snap, we finished our session in no time at all.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this couple three times this last year and every time I think I might have outdone myself in creating beautiful photos for them, they show up to the next shoot looking even better than the last time with the biggest smiles and fullest hearts, and together we create something so special! Beautiful photos are not created solely by the photographer, its also the connection and the mood that the clients convey during their session and how willing they are to open up to the photographer that make translating the emotions on camera a success. Don’t get me wrong, I feel 100% confident directing and guiding my clients during a session to get the right shots and poses, but your photos can only ever be as unique and special as you allow them to be by being yourself and allowing the photographer to capture all your quirks and uniqueness. I can only imagine, and I will find out soon enough when I deliver my next baby in the next few weeks, how hectic and crazy it can get in a household with a toddler and a bran new baby boy. Congrats to my beautiful friend Tallis and her styling fiancé Eric who recently got engaged this spring! Seriously though, how cute are they in their matching hats and denim on denim? The inspiration for this photoshoot was the open air and Canadian Rockies that we are lucky to have in our backyard, here is Calgary, Alberta. Love these two and wish them all the happiness in the world.
BOHO SUNSET, BOHO BUMP
I can’t even tell you how much fun it was to photograph Kelsey and Cort in this bohemian themed maternity shoot. I love how the sun set’s warm colours bounced off the pink and taupe rocks, onto Kelsey’s elegant and flowy dress. Pair all that magic hour with some warm wind and a bohemian hat and the baby bump is complimented perfectly. Hope you guys love this session awn much as I did, it was seriously one of my favourite ones up to date!

I've wanted to photograph a couple, pregnant or not, at Big Rock Erratic in Okotoks for as long as I can remember. The location is dramatic and paired with a clear sky, makes for a pretty unreal sunset. Thank you Bree and Joe for hanging out with me on a Friday evening, to chase the light. I often don’t think about it but sometimes I’m one of the first people to meet the new addition to the family, and that makes me feel like I’m somehow part of the family. Dan and Alysha- INTIMATE BED AND BREAKFAST WINNIPEG WEDDING
Witnessing Dan and Alysha’s union was special enough, imagine being one of only 13 guests invited to attend the intimate bed and breakfast ceremony. The ceremony and reception were held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at Alysha’s parent’s bed ad breakfast, the Columns, Alysha’s childhood home. The three story bed and breakfast was nothing short of spectacular, the perfect place for an intimate elopement, their hand written vows, and the family pooches, snuggling together around the bottom of her beautiful wedding gown. But before they said “I do” in front of their thirteen guests, we snuck off to one of Winnipeg’s hot spots, Stella’s , Bar and Grill, where the couple met and Saint Vital Park, where the couple had their first date for some intimate photos.
